The game's main hub is Rosalina's observatory, where Mario can visit several different domes, each sending him to a nearby galaxy. While Super Mario Galaxy retains the classic formula of 3D Mario adventures, there have been many new mechanics and features introduced. As Mario collects more and more stolen power stars, he and Rosalina inch closer to defeating Bowser once and for all. Due to Bowser's mischief, Rosalina has lost power to her star observatory, and agrees to help Mario on his journey. Awakening in the middle of space on a small but humble planet, Mario meets a star-sprite and its owner, Rosalina. Although Mario attempts to save Peach, he is attacked by one of Bowser's minions, sending him careening off the planet. As expected, the evil Bowser shows up to ruin the fun, whisking away Princess Peach and her entire castle using a huge futuristic ship. Held every 100 years, the Star Festival is a joyful time where everyone gathers together to watch passing comets and star showers. Super Mario Galaxy kicks off with Mario and his friends visiting Princess Peach during the Mushroom Kingdom's Star Festival. With the addition of new power-ups, anti-gravity features, and wholly inventive level designs, Super Mario Galaxy offers a lengthy and top-quality adventure.

Like other 3D Mario games, Super Mario Galaxy provides players with numerous colorful worlds to explore, full of fun and interesting platforming challenges. In order to save Peach and the galaxy itself, Mario must team up with some new friends and explore the vast expanse of space. This entertaining adventure takes Mario and his friends to a place that they've rarely gone before – space! After Bowser terrorizes the Mushroom Kingdom and kidnaps Princess Peach yet again, Mario is blasted into space and crash-lands on a small planet. 4/5.Super Mario Galaxy is another exciting entry in the 3D Super Mario platforming franchise, featuring a classic cast of Nintendo characters. Still, I appreciate how much Nintendo does for their customers. But I somehow felt as though I was playing Mario Galaxy 1 in the beginning. If I felt better about the storyline, 5 stars, no questions asked. I always have loved Yoshi and his eating habits, and I'm glad they decided to add him in MG2. I bought this because I nearly cried when Mario Galaxy had no more for me to do (Er Go, I completed the whole game). It gets confusing occasionally having to run around a planet upside down. Why this doesn't get just 3 stars for not being as original as the first one, is because I'll always love how Mario Galaxy is a bright and colorful game. As usual, Bowser steals peach, she helplessly does nothing to get away AGAIN, Mario takes another journey into space just to rescue her (Every time me and my family play a Mario game we all facepalm, sigh and/or go "AThe only difference was that In MG2, the action started almost right away. So Rosalina waited for her, but noticed she wasn't coming back after she ventured out into space with a star she befriended she named Luma (CHUBBY STARS ARE SO CUTE.! <3).
Sad in a lot of parts, because her mother left to become a Galaxy (Or a giant star I think). Her story was beautiful, and very calming. In Mario Galaxy, Rosalina would read a story to Mario every 2 completed missions (Getting a Star). I give Mario Galaxy 2 a 4/5 only because the story isn't as creative as the first Mario Galaxy was. Buy it if you couldn't have enough of the first Mario Galaxy.
