PGN / FEN text for a game can be copied to the Windows clipboard, ready for pasting into another application. Useful if you need to copy a game from an online chess site. Games can be added into a collection by direct pasting of PGN / FEN text. It will display statistics for the best lines of opening play to follow. Penguin contains a database of opening positions from professional games. Penguin can interface with UCI engines and suggest best moves for game positions. Many lines of play can be stored in a game. Penguin supports two game formats: PGN and Penguin's own ECH format. Stored Games Games can be stored on disk.

Unzip the archive and store the contents in a directory on your device. The download is a compressed archive of all the files you will need. Please read the ReadMe and Licence files that are included. The installation program unpacks all the Penguin files that are needed. Run the installation program and follow the on-screen prompts. The download is one executable installation program file. The portable version is for users who need to keep Penguin on a USB drive or other portable device. Standard continues the line of releases that have been available so far.

Penguin is available in two download versions: standard and portable. I hope that you will find it an enjoyable and useful product and that it will help you improve your skill at Chess. My objective was to create a compact, non-commercial product that could stand alongside the existing editors and offer some original functionality. Penguin is the effort of one single programmer.
